The Turkish economy and particularly the Turkish market for machine tools have displayed remarkable development over the past few years. Business conditions have been significantly improved by the European Union entry negotiations. In spite of the actual worldwide financial and economic crisis these factors indicate that Turkey will become increasingly attractive as a market in the future, having a positive effect on investment by local and foreign companies.
The Turkish machine tools market is the fourteenth largest in the world. The market volume has more than doubled since the year 2001. The German machine tools industry is an innovative and important partner in this process. With a 18% share in total machine tool imports to Turkey, Germany was second largest supplier in 2007 behind Taiwan.
German machine tools stand for efficiency, precision and quality. German manufacturers’ strength lies in their customer-specific solutions, meeting each buyer’s needs exactly. The focus is on the customer’s success, and service is the A and O. That means not only sales, but also consulting, service, maintenance and training make up a major part of their business.
TATEF 2009 in Istanbul, the most important trade fair for the machine tools and equipment sector, for tools, control and drive technology, hydraulic components and measurement technology for example, offers a key platform for maintaining and intensifying the traditionally good German-Turkish business relations.
With the second organisation of a joint German participation, the German Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWI), the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW) aim to support business relations between Turkish and German companies.
